- The image shows a large spider at the center of a web made on the branch of a tree with several blossoms and fruits. The Latin name for the tree is given in pencil as Bassia Latifolia (see Madhuca longifolia). Bottom of page: a quotation from Alexander Pope, beginning, "Who made the Spider parallels design."
