- Ruskin writes that he sends Le Keux two sketches and two daguerreotypes. He asks Le Keux to "facsimile the effect" of the darkest of the daguerreotypes. Ruskin says he will not include a sky as he is too busy to etch one. He instructs Le Keux not to attempt the daguerreotype if he does not feel he can finish it quickly as the entire project must be completed within five weeks. Ruskin asks Le Keux to create fifty additional impressions of the Bolton etchings in purple and blue "for myself before sending on the plate."
