- Marked "Private." Boxall informs Redgrave of the death of George Cattermole. Cattermole died in debt and Boxall informs Redgrave that Cattermole's widow is in need of assistance. Boxall writes that Charles Dickens has come to Mrs Cattermole's aid and will begin an appeal. Boxall asks on Mrs Cattermole's behalf about the possibility of the National Gallery purchasing some of Cattermole's works. Boxall writes that Cattermole left no finished works but did leave sketches which Redgrave may want to add to "the collection of sketches you have got together at S.K. [the South Kensington Museum].
