- Scope and Content:
- Describing art collecting in Italy. 'By my last 8th inst. I have you an account of what I had done about the Basso rilievos; the Nobleman was really as good as his word, and he spoke both to the Cav. Nani and his brother, but they won't dispose of them, as they are determined to form a sort of gallery, and put all the antique and pictures in good order.' Welch mentions Lord Bute and asks for news of the Royal Academy in London, discusses the journey back to France and England ('if there is no danger of corsairs you may make it [the journey from Carara to Genova] by sea, as I did, in only twelve hours'). She finishes by listing a number of spelling mistakes Nollekens made in his last letter.
