Received plates and the beginning volumes of <title>North Carolina Folklore</title>, a collection of Frank C. Brown's folklore that Clare had been commissioned to illustrate. Writes of the plates, "to me Grist Milling is tops in composition & unity, with Farming and Sugaring close behind, and also Ice Cutting." Wants to create a showroom for Clare's work in the Library at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
