Notebook bound in original vellum.
Manuscript diary of a tour in France by a well-educated English traveler, circa 1753. The text is titled "Journal in France" at the head of the first leaf, and is then written mainly in French although with several sections in English. There are numerous corrections and this is very much an account written at the time, not a fair copy prepared on the diarist's return.
