- "Respectfully begs to inform his friends and the public, that in consequence of the great success he has met with in the above business, he has been induced to open a correspondence with Mr. Peel, of No. 37, Leicester Square, who will supply him with the fashions as they regularly appear in London ... [signed] March 31st, 1840."
The Post Office London directory, 1841 (page 511) lists John S. Peel & Co. as "publ. of tailors' fashions, 37 Leicester Sq."

The tailor Charles Siddall was born in 1804, in Staindrop, England. In the 1881 census he remains listed as a tailor (Eppleby) and parish clerk of Stanwick.
