A copy at Yale Center for British Art (Folio A 2022 63 Copy 1) contains 12 letterpress slips, one to accompany each print. The slip labels read as follows: The loory -- Golden eagle -- Painted snipe -- Nipal woodcock -- Monaul, or horned pheasant -- Common hoopoe -- The kokla -- Lutkun parrot -- Nukta or black-backed goose -- Arracan peacock -- Kohy hawk and Kurakul ibis -- The laul or Amadavade finch.
BAC Folio A 2022 63 Copy 1: The Abbey copy. Plates are hand-colored. In original brown wrappers, with lithographed title label of the same paper pasted on front wrapper reading: "N 2 of the Oriental ornithology containing 12 subjects." This copy contains 12 letterpress slips, one to accompany each print. Removed from this item was a typewritten letter from (?) Christine to Rev. J.M. McWilliam, Manse of Tynron, Dumfries, dated 11th June 1940 and including the following text: "... the loan of [Oriental Ornithology] ... has enabled me to have the letterpress typed and inserted in my very incomplete copy."
