Notes:
Three engraved scenes of cock fighting, printed in red ink on cotton. The print bears no text. The largest scene, filling the bottom two-thirds of the sheet, reproduces Colonel Mordaunt's Cock Match, painted by Johann Zoffany ca. 1784-1786 (and now in the collections of Tate Britain). At top left and top right are two smaller scenes of cock-fights, from unidentified sources (neither reproduces Hogarth's notable The Royal Sport, Pit Ticket).
The Zoffany scene "depicts a cock match between Asaf-ud-daula, Nawab Wazir of Oudh (standing in the centre) and Colonel John Mordaunt (standing on the left in white), a keen cock-fighter who had brought out from England game-cocks which he was confident would defeat native-bred birds" (Tate Britain).
