The pattern book is bound in contemporary half leather and marbled boards. The paper is watermarked "BUDGEN 1815."
Manuscript pattern book, together with a packet of patterns on paper, newspaper and card, with handwritten instructions, armorial designs for needlework including the Hood family, and a design for an altar cloth with the note (twice) “pattern for an altar cloth worked by Jane Viscountess Hood for Cricket St. Thomas” (Somerset). Each page bears one or more designs for needlework or lace patterns drawn in ink with gray wash highlights.
The volume is inscribed: "Miss Hood 1822." It could be the work of Jane Viscountess Hood, formerly Wheler (also Wheeler), 1754-1847.
