Notes:
The collection includes an album of drawings, photographs, and samples of lace, together with additional loose photographs, drawings, and clippings concerning lace and lace making. The collection includes samples from England and other areas in Europe. As well as worked lace, there are patterns used to create the samples, and in one case, a part finished piece showing lace, pattern, pins etc. The photographs are annotated on the back with names of the English and European examples. The anonymous compiler has gathered clippings from contemporary magazines relating to lace making and has included a pamphlet produced for the Science and Art Museum, Dublin by HMSO -- itself a repository for further tipped in clippings. In the album, the compiler has annotated some samples carefully, often giving details of acquisition: “Bought. Winslow (Bucks) 1/8 a yard 1906”; ”Rapallo, Marguerite pattern 1906”; “Russian peasant lace 1906”; “Machine made silk lace 1905 English”
