Notes:
Hand-stitched folder made from ornate ivory embossed card covers, edged with blind decorated gold foil, with watercolors affixed to the central panels on the front and back. The watercolor on one side depicts a wintry scene with a snow-covered cottage and figures skating on the ice of an adjacent pond. The watercolor on the opposite side depicts a summery collection of flowers in pink, yellow, and blue. The inside of the folder is padded and lined with coral-colored silk. Presumably the folder was used by a young woman to keep sheets for drawing, or for billet-doux.
The creator of the folder is unidentified. Provenance is from the Westcombe family of Worcester, England.
