The pin is in the form of small flag, with black pinhead and black tassel at top. The body of the pin is a printed textile (silk?) over stiff paper. On one side is a circular image of Queen Victoria, against a white background with mourning border. The image may be derived from a photographic portrait of the Queen by Alexander Bassano (1882). The verso bears printed text within a mourning border: "In memory of our beloved Queen. Born May 24th, 1819, died Jan. 22nd, 1901. Reigned 68 yrs. 216 days." - Subject Terms:
