Bound in contemporary black leather with mother-of-pearl inlay.
The album compiles varied visual media, primarily prints (intaglio and relief), drawings, embossed papers, and several albumen prints, all generally unsigned. Subject matter includes topographical views, genre scenes, and reproductions of works of art. The compiler may be Mary Celia Willingale, whose autograph appears on a slip of paper inserted near the end of the volume (dated September 12th, 1853). Also laid in are two leaves bearing a manuscript copy of Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Lines to the memory of 'Annie' who died at Milan, June 6th, 1860."
