The Liverpool Excursion Club was organized to collect weekly subscriptions for a low-cost excursion train to London to view the Great Exhibition of 1851.
Material in this collection was gathered by John R. Isaac, one of the auditors & a commissioner for Liverpool. It includes a broadside advertising the club, a bank deposit book, a book recording the payments of subscribers, subscription card of one Thomas Robinson, a lithographed form letter to newspaper publishers asking for promotional consideration, and the final notice to subscribers of scheduled departure of the train from Liverpool to London on 5 July, 1851.
