Less prosaic persons are also on view. | At Hyde Park Corner, Peace descends to still the prancing | horses of war; Andromeda is in perpetual rescue outside the | Tate Gallery; Peter pan pipes to a startled miscellany of | smaller folk in Kensington Gardens. | Nor are we inhospitable: three American presidents share | the London scene; Marshal Foch is appropriately within hall | of Victoria station; even Rodin's Burghers of Calais drag their | proud misery in Victoria Tower Gardens. | And everywhere cathedrals and churches give sanctuary to | memorials of the famous dead recording for our interest and | pleasure the taste and admiration of other days. | COMPETITION | These two posters depict fourteen sculptures of various kinds that | may be seen in London. Readers are invited to send a list giving | the names of persons represented, or the title of the work, together | with the name of the sculptor (if known) and where they may be seen. | The senders of the first twenty correct solutions received by July 31 | will receive a free copy of the book 'Visitor's London'.
