Notes:
Manuscript marriage fortune telling game, by an unidentified maker, ca. 1840. The title card depicts a blindfolded woman holding a garland, with text: "Choose a flower, you'll quickly see, What your future spouse shall be." Each of the 11 remaining cards depicts a small, finely detailed flower, drawn in watercolor. The verso of each card provides a corresponding fortune, written in black ink. The verso of the harebell, for example, forecasts a spouse who is "Pleasant, lively and unassuming, fond of music and dancing, genteel and elegant in figure." For a rose: "Generous, affection & very amiable, fond of travelling & variety, noted for personal beauty."
