Edward Bradley (1827-1889) was a prominent English clergyman, novelist and illustrator. He attended Durham University between 1845 and 1848, at which time he began using the pseudonym “Cuthbert Bede” for published writings and illustrations. His most notable literary success was The Adventures of Mr. Verdant Green, an Oxford Freshman, a series of three novels (1853-1857) with numerous illustrations by the author.
