A catalogue of a capital and most precious assemblage of superlatively fine Italian, French, Flemish, and Dutch pictures, consigned within a few weeks past from the Continent : in the view of this collection the connoisseurs will enjoy an exquisite treat, and the admirers of Rembrandt especially will have an opportunity of witnessing the finest picture, without exception, ever painted by that master, the Woman taken in adultery, executed by Rembrandt, for his patron and friend, the Burgomaster Six : it is a chef d'Ĺ“uvre, for which language cannot furnish adequate description or praise, replete with sublimity and awful magic effect : besides this, are a Holy Family by Corregio, from the Modena Gallery : a sea port, near Genoa, by Claude, a warm, clear and delicately-finished picture, one of his very finest : a companion landscape, and two others, by ditto : two capital portraits, an historical, and a marine subject, by Rembrandt ; the Angels confounding the men of Gomorrah, N. Poussin, and others by L. da Vinci, Titian, Domenichino, P. da Cortona, Romanelli, G. Poussin, Rubens, V. Dyck, Teniers, Neefs, G. Dow, A. Ostade, Du Jardin, Potter, V. de Velde, Dusart, Bega, Terburg, Mieris, Backhuysen, Lenain, Lingelback : which will be sold by auction by Mr. Christie, on his Great Room, Pall Mall, on Saturday, June the 13th, 1807, at twelve o'clock.
