A catalogue of a most valuable, curious and learned collection of antient gems : a variety of interesting subjects relating to the pagan mythology : Greek, Roman and Basilidian inscriptions are engraved on many of them, and many are in their antient settings in very massive gold, silver, and iron : and have been published in various learned works : also, several extremely rare figures of the penates, and symbols of the heathen deities in gold, silver, and bronze : the whole is the property of a respectable collector on the continent : well known by his literary publications, who being reduced by the convulsions of his country, now offers this valuable assemblage of antiquities to the munificence, taste, and scientific judgement of the English nation : the above will be sold by auction by Mr. Christie at his Great Room, Pall Mall, on Friday, the 2[2d] of May, 1801, at twelve o'clock
