Notes:
Each phenakistoscope disc features a series of images that appear to move when the disk is spun and viewed through the slots before a mirror. Invention of the device is attributed to Joseph Plateau in 1833.

The discs illustrate: A juggler -- A man and woman dancing -- A man on a bicycle -- A woman beating a man with a stick -- A bell ringer in a belfry -- A horse jumping a hoop together with an acrobat.
