The “Old British Camp” stood in the grounds of Bulstrode Park, a house in Buckinghamshire on the fringes of London. The camp itself was of Iron Age origin, but the Victorians believed it to have been built by Anglo-Saxon opponents of the Norman Conquest who kept their lands and liberty by standing up to William the Conqueror.
